I have downloaded the SCRAP
program but I get an error message when I try to
start it |
If you have created a shortcut
icon to initiate the program, make sure that the
application is starting and running the
appropriate directory. Also, if you unzipped the
file, there is a directory structure for font,
userdata, vector data and images. Make sure the
structure remained intact. The first problem with
the DLL indicates the run directory is something
other than the directory containing the
executable scrape.exe. Same problem as the TLE
file. You should not have to use a path statement
in autoexec.bat, so something else is not right. |

Well, I went to your site,
downloaded the whole 9 yards and when I click on
SCRAP.exe, I get the opening license page, then
when I click ok, I get a message "Cannot
open user data/predict. tle" and that ends
the show. What is wrong ?? |
The directory structure is
very inportant for SCRAP to function. It is
possible when you unzipped the package, that all
the files ended up in the same directory, and
that the support directories were not created. |

The SCRAP Satellite tracker
program work great on my Windows 98, but does not
show the earth maps when I use the SCRAP program
on my Windows ME system. Please tell me what
other file I need to be able to use the SCRAP on
my Windows ME. |
The graphics are heavy into
OpenGL and it's extension GLUT. If you have a
system with an OpenGL graphics accelerator card,
it's possible OpenGL is not properly loaded. Try
loading the latest updated graphics drivers from
your video card vendor. |

All the graphics look just
fine except for the one marked "moon".
It's dimensionally stetched so the moon looks
like an ellipse insted of round. Otherwise they
look fine. |
The 3-D representation of the
moon is a recent addition. The egg-shaped moon is
a product of OpenGL Work is still being done on
the moon to not only round it out, but to rotate
it so that the proper lat/lon is point towards
Earth. |

I copied the application from
the CD-ROM and now the graphics files cannot be
opened |
Please check to see if the
files exist in the proper directory. If support
files and graphics are marked "read
only" SCRAP may not be able to properly open
it. All files should be marked "read
write". This problem occurs when copying the
application from the CD-ROM. This is why SCRAP
cannot be run directly from the CD-ROM. |

When you select from Earth
texture list a particular map (I loaded all of
them), the first map you select pops up and
displays data. So far so good, if you select
another map after this, it will erase the map
window. You must then select the map again in
order for this new selection to view. |
The work-around to this is to
click the mouse on SCRAP's main panel. This
causes focus to be given to the panel, which
gives it back processing time, and the window
should appear. |

Why is SCRAP so big that AMSAT
only distributes it on CD-ROM? |
The SCRAP distribution disk
contains not only the SCRAP software, but also
the source code from contributing projects and
all of the General Public License (GPS) source

- Added initialization
(.INI) file to set up comm ports, QTH,
APRS initial TLE file and Earth display
parameters (modify text size). SCRAP does
not use the registry, so the user must
maintain any changes in this file.

ability to modify paramaters during
runtime and capture modification to text
file.

- TLE Editor had checksum
error in creating and saving edited TLE
to file, also fixed error in formatting
drag and mean motion format, these errors
inherited from PREDICT algorithm.
- TLE edit windows had
insufficient accruacy, all increased to
%.9f, which only affected accruacy with
"Update Memory" and
"Save" feature. Noticed
primarly on drag figures.
